found my horse munching on some holly leaves today. he obviously wasn't enjoying the experience by his expression

and didn't object when i removed the branch from his mouth, but then tried to eat one of the spikey leafs he had dropped. does anyone elses horse do this? is it toxic? (cant find reference to it in any books)
thanks

I don't think it's toxic in the sense of Ragwort or anything like that - horses occasionally try greenery that they wouldn't normally touch. Holly isn't a leaf that the majority of herbivores will eat because of its prickles - I really wouldn't worry - at worst it might make him a bit loose for a day or so.
