Today at the grand old age of 26, Holme Grove Solomon died in his paddock after chatting to his mares during a brief moment of sunshine.

I had the pleasure of working for Holme Trakehners for 2 years which was split between Holme Park Stud and Holme Grove Farm where solomon was based. He was a stallion of great character and beauty and will be sadly missed.

I have many fond memories of the old boy who I affectionately nicknamed the tank due to his tendancy to try and bomb off before you could get the head collar off.

He was awarded UK ELITE September 2010
"BHF Top British Bred Dressage Sire 1998 & 2000"
TBF Lifetime Excellence Award 2004

Here are 2 photos I took of him last year during april in his paddock

My thoughts go out to Susan and Paul Attew and Barbara and Chris Watkiss during this time. Solomon was their first foal and the start of their great passion for Trakehners.

RIP grand old man x

RIP lovely boy. I'm a big fan of the Holme Grove trakehners . . . Holme Grove Prokoviev (who I believe has just been chosen as the new Lloyds Bank black horse) has always been my dream horse.

Thinking of the Holme Grove "family" . . .

His son, Holme Park Krug is just as lovely and one of the nicest stallions I've had the pleasure of working with. yesterday the Holme Park Stud had their first foal of the year, a lovely black filly by Krug and a grand daughter to Solomon and so, the circle of life continues.

Rest in peace Solomon, I am very lucky to own one of his daughters and have had the opportunity to meet this lovely boy on a number of occasions, he really was the friendliest, sweetest stallion you could ever wish to meet... Just feel so sorry for the Attew family right now, they must feel completely lost without him... What a legacy to leave behind though and what a contribution he has made to the Trakehner breed!!

This is so sad, what a wonderful boy he was. All at Holme Trakehners must be devestated(so soon after losing Liaison too). I have a mare by Solomon and a gelding by his grand son HP Legend. These trakehner bloodlines IMO can not be beaten for temperament. This is a sad sad day for Trakehner breeding. RIP Solomon
