Today at the grand old age of 26, Holme Grove Solomon died in his paddock after chatting to his mares during a brief moment of sunshine.

I had the pleasure of working for Holme Trakehners for 2 years which was split between Holme Park Stud and Holme Grove Farm where solomon was based. He was a stallion of great character and beauty and will be sadly missed.

I have many fond memories of the old boy who I affectionately nicknamed the tank due to his tendancy to try and bomb off before you could get the head collar off.

He was awarded UK ELITE September 2010
"BHF Top British Bred Dressage Sire 1998 & 2000"
TBF Lifetime Excellence Award 2004

Here are 2 photos I took of him last year during april in his paddock

This is so sad, what a wonderful boy he was. All at Holme Trakehners must be devestated(so soon after losing Liaison too). I have a mare by Solomon and a gelding by his grand son HP Legend. These trakehner bloodlines IMO can not be beaten for temperament. This is a sad sad day for Trakehner breeding. RIP Solomon.
