Just wondering how you found them in terms of temperament ? Would you consider them suitable for the everyday rider ..i know thats vague... i think what i mean is i do like unnafiliated showjumping prob to a max of 90cm and up to novice dressage. I know it goes on the individual horse but generally you can make an assumption of a breed as a whole.

Hope that explains - basically i've seen one i like the look of, not tried her yet and considering whether its worth pursuing - i don;t know whether i'm going out of my league. ....I'm not a novice by any means but i won;t be breaking any world records either!
HELP!!

I owned a Holstein for over 10 years (he's out on loan to a total beginner now) he had the best temperament of any horse I've ever owned but he could be awkward and 'lazy' when not in the mood for work, I haven't had any interaction with other people's Holstein horses so cannot comment on the broader spectrum of the breed in general, but my boy was a real diamond and I would buy 10 more like him. He was an amazing show jumper and achieved some very impressive dressage results (when in the mood) :) I'm wouldn't buy a mare but thats down to my personal preference for geldings - go and try her :)

I have one - a rescue - out on loan at the moment. She was a Grade A SJer and also evented I think, and is really laid back. May not be fair to judge though, she was in her late teens when she came here, from a novice rider, and has been great for inexperienced riders ever since. She is now around 23. Fabienne V is her registered name, well, V on her brand VI on her papers, we call her Sophie. One of the easiest mares and a good doer, but I don't know how typical she is.

ah brill ..thankyou both. Research i have done descibes them a lot as lazy on occasion but reliable and steady. I don't mind lazy - its the other way i've had terrible experience with. I think i will take the plunge and go to view..only one way to find out i suppose. Nice to get some positive feedback - thanks.
