Hello,
Just wondering if any locals know of any liveries/ grazing/ land around Hexham for a couple of very well behaved geldings. Looking to move them as not happy with my current livery....hacking really isn't very good.

Hacking around Fourstones is decent. They have a bridle path that runs across their land plus grass gallops.

Mount Huly? I'm sure i have heard it has decent off road hacking.

High Plains? Road work isn't brilliant but you do have the ride / hay fields / schooling field.

New Dotland Farm I believe does livery - hacking is good up there.

It's not all about the hacking for the move so it doesn't have to be superb hacking, any things better than what we have at the mo :(
Mount huly I'm not to keen on, 44 liveries is a bit much for me and can't be there everyday to have them turned in for the 2pm time limit.
Have a visit to dotland planned although found it strange that they don't offer a summer rate. Price the same all year long.
Fourstones is a bit to far west, I work east so would prefer somewhere I have to pass on the way from/too work.
Wish I could win the lottery and start my own livery, there's a serious lack in this area,

I'd say try our place as the hacking as fab but I know it's full atm, but you can always go on the waiting list. We have a lit outdoor arena too :)

Good luck!

Didnt realise they had 44 liveries!!

Ive never been anywhere where the offer different summer/winter rates - just didnt used bedding/hay so it was automatically cheaper.

What about high plains?

Or East moorhouse, hacking is decent enough. They've just built more stables but im not sure if any haven't been allocated yet.

Yeah my friends just moved there, they're in the process of building more too.
Dotland is a flat rate of £35 all year round cos you can use stable to get horses out of the sun in the summer. I did think this was a bit unusual. My livery is only £22 in the summer and we still have our stable.
Think high plains and east moorhouse might be a little out of my budget :(

There's more stables currently getting built at Mt Huly Beatrice, there's also a waiting list. Hexham / Corbridge could really do with a decent livery yard, it's very poor especially considering it's a fairly rural area.

Mount huly will be massive! Wonder how busy the arena gets?!

I think the are a some decent yards but as with any yard no where will ever be perfect!

Op - have you tried newlands grange?

There are some decent ones but compared to down south and other areas the selection is poor considering how rural we are.
Newlands grange is again too far, I work 12hr shifts. Need somewhere that's easy to get to before and after work.
I really need to move before spring. Where I am now has very very rich grass come spring, my poor lad piled on the weight last year. The owner won't let us restrict the grazing with fencing even though we all want to.
'its down to us to manage our own horses weight' ie bring in all day everyday and pay for bedding. Summers all about freedom and enjoying your horse more not being tied to bringing in and out everyday :(
