Taken me 2 days to post this as the forum has been so slow

Took Mr McCoul to Widmer Farm for the Central Region selection day, on Sat. There were 17 people trying out from Prelim to Adv Med, with Central plnning to send 3 teams, of 4 people, selected from Prelim-Novice, Elem-Med & Adv Med-PSG + one from any category.

We had to ride through the test, then do an interview to test our team spirit

and then a 20min training session with Chris Porterfield (List 2 judge) to test our trainability and knowledge of the scales of training. Marks were given for each section and added to our test score for a final mark.

For various boring reasons, Finn and I were doing prelim, despite the fact we have now moved back up to Novice, but since that is what we had entered we did it anyway.

Test went well (prelim 17), not amazing - went a bit wiggly on me in the corners. Judge obviously thought differently - we scored 72.9%!!

First set of marks were 8,8,7,8,8,9! The 9 being for his free walk. **Tor collapses with shock** Collectives were 8,7,6,7 comment being "Superb horse, with huge ability".

Finn and I have worked so hard recently, to sort my riding out before moving back up to the level we were competing at and it is obviously paying off!

Interview was fine and training session very helpful. Had a great day watching all the others and now just have to wait to hear whether have been selected and for my final score. Will prob hear at beginning of Sept

Only 17 entrants? Shows that this is something people are really not aware of - I know I had never heard about it before you mentioned it on here. Do you know why they do not publicise it better? Who is the organising body? Do you have to be BD registered? It sounds like a really good experience for everyone involved and a lot of fun! Good luck with it.

I was really surprised only 17 people tried out too.

You do have to be BD registered. It is on the "Regions" section of the BD website.

Think it may be in it's infancy, hence not too well known. I know this was only the 2nd year that the Inter regionals took place. Think Kim (the regional development officer) has put a lot of work in to promoting it to members in the region, but i guess it takes a while for these things to catch on
