Have seen lots of recipes for homemade flyspray, but is there one for tail de-tangler?iget through quite a lot (2 of mine have v.thick tails)When i get nearly to the end of a bottle i water it down a bit. It`s one of those items that if you work out how much you spend a year on you would faint!
(1 bottle a month= 6 or 7 pound)

I use cheapy conditioner from the supermarket!

Unless you mean leave-in stuff? Don't have an alternative then...

Baby oil. I always use this and a flat paddle hairbrush (wilkinson's 1.79) and it keeps our pony's tail in good condition. I always plait it when he's TO to keep it as mud free as possible too.

I know a traditional cob who uses baby oil....he has an awful lot of hair and would bankrupt his Mummy if she had to fork out all the time for mane and tail spray!

lol, I'll add that I also use superdrug kid's detangler, at 99p a bottle! (but he's terrified of spraying noises so use tha baby pil more often).

just usually buy something like Canter from tack shop bout 6.50.the leave in stuff.
Mr muscle_nev heard of using that.do use washing up liquid for a summer bath.(did read somewhere that Lyn Russell the cob lady uses washyup so must be ok)
thanks

perhap you mean mr muscle sillicone spray??
I know some one who uses just a plastic curry comb and their pon has v sparce tail.

i use canter mane and tail de-tangler and it's great! but it's still about £7 a bottle although i only have to put it on once a week and it lasts the whole week so it lasts longer than a month!

i just use a new brand of shampoo called fenwicks and it lasts all year as the pea size you need does your horse from head to toe. but it also has added shine in the shampoo like a conditioner i never have to use any mane and tail stuff cos its always tangle free after washing in fenwicks.
but i would second the furniture polish.
