Bamboo canes and bulldog clips as 'cups', stick the bamboo in the ground, clip on the bulldog clips and put the sticks across as a pole resting on them. Very cheap, effective and easy to store!

Pack of 15 is £2 in B&Q, bulldog clips dirt cheap on eBay. Just try to get the thicker bulldog clips as poles don't rest so well on the thin metal ones.

I just took delivery of some lovely home-made lightweight plastic jumps made of white pipe and clips etc. Was so looking forward to being able to practise the 1m hurdle at home.

OK, so instead, think 'black hairy bowling ball' smashing through 'white plastic skittles'.

Back to the drawing board!!!!

I would love one of the regulation portable/adjustable steel and canvas ones but they are over £100

Cahill I will post pics of the one I have as you could knock it together pretty easily. Just a pity my dog is a knobber!!

Kids play tunnel, or tentpeg down a few hula hoops (Poundland) and drape a sheet over it.

A suitable plank on a chunky log for a see saw - use wooden wedges to stop the log rolling.

Thicker garden canes with white insulation tape wrapped around for bending poles.

Carpet inner tubes painted for poles.

An inflated inner tube for the hoop jumpy though thing? Suspended from carpet tube poles held in buckets of sand.

Have fun :D

This is really useful for DIY Agility Jumps/ Weave poles / contact equipment.

It will give you some good ideas. >>> :D

I made my own wings and made the poles from plumbing pipe from B&Q which is cheap and easy to cut with a hacksaw.

I also made a long jump, tyre, and stick in the ground type weave poles
(V weave type also made for an indoor beginners agility training club)

I have way to much equipment for my tiny garden and now belong to a proper agility club with top-spec equipment with rubber contacts etc. We also compete regularly now, but I started with inspiration from the link above.

HAVE FUN :D

No THIS will make you chuckle.

Been working on teaching him to go from fixed point A to fixed point B and then back to A again on the ground, and now with a jump in the middle.
He has been awful for hitting or brushing the jump with his back legs.
Had a particularly trying session yesterday but kept it short and released him with lots of praise after he cleared it.

Let him off lead and 'free'd' him....he bimbled over to the fence, jumped it with miles to spare from a standstill, turned on a sixpence and jumped back again on the spot, again, with a good few inches clearance. I think I also heard him laughing as he was doing it.....

I can vouch for the bamboo canes and bull dog clips - I tried that idea a couple of days ago! One of mine prefers a filler but fab idea for quick jumps!

well,heres what I made today.
the wood was left over offcuts
the poles are left over from some plumbing we done
the jump cups were £12 for 28 (14 pairs) on ebay.

they are just for fun and practise but can any1 tell me if dogs need `groundlines` like horses do? a lot of images I have googled do not seem to.

a quick try-out :)

Some good ideas :)

I use white plastic fencing posts(for electric fencing), and use robust clothes pegs which can clip on anywhere. The only downside is when you go to hang out the washing and have to rob the jumps for more pegs,:D

No you don't need groundlines, even large jumps are more often than not a single pole. occasionally you get a filler, like a plank with a sponsors name on but this is very rare. Even when training, either a pole on the ground for youngsters/puppy pre-agility, or one pole at the height you want. You do get a spread sometimes, but never parallel bars so back rail at least 10cm higher than front rail, not stupidly wide. confidence is key! :)
