What do people use? Am feeling inspired to start doing some pole work and baby jumps with my pony. Other than buying proper jumps what are the safest homemade options. Dont want things that will bounce back or splinter if they get trodden on by a hefty Highland hoof!

I bought some fishing rod tubes off ebay, I think we had 3 for a tenner. They've cracked in places but haven't broken or splintered. My dad keeps bringing red and white (aluminium) car park barriers home from work. They're lightweight and clang when kicked so we use them for trotting but wouldn't dream of using them for jumping just in case.

*It's his job - he doesn't steal them lol he machine cuts new ones and these are the old ones he'd otherwise throw in the metal skip.

Also I think landscaping poles are more or less the same as jump poles but half the price.
Wooden and available from most argricultural/country stores and garden centres.

drain pipes :), can make them heavier by putting some sand in and duct taping across the ends, we have some heavy duty black pipes that we got from the farmer where i used to livery. not sure what they were supposed to be for!

Ditto this. Also the square ones are good as they don't roll if the horse knocks them.
