As we all are aware winter is upon us and our wee neddies are spending a bit more time in their stables. As its approaching Christmas and money is of course tight I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for cheap or homemade stable toys to keep my little madam, who manages to go through one whole likit treat in less than 4 hours entertained!? Neither economical or healthy for me or her (turns into miss hyper when she finished!)

Thanks

An empty 2 litre plastic milk bottle - no cap fitted. Suspended from ceiling with baling twine through the handle. Small hole cut in the "upper" corner when it's hanging. Put some pony nuts in that will only fall out when she nudges it the right way.

Friend did this with a 2 litre empty soft drink bottle too. Know of someone who's horse used to stand with one on it's head like a balancing act LOL

put a football in the corner of an old haynet, cut net to size, and use like a hay net, only hang it of a beam in the middle/back of stable. my pony plays with his all the time.i also put an apple in each water bucket, he seems to enjoy that aswell x x

I have a leadrope in my stable for my mare with a knot in the edn and a large salt lick to weigh it down. Then i part the twists of the leadrope and poke bits of carrots through (if you do small wedges of carrots- say slices only 1" or so thick) then do them all the way up the leadrope thsi keepy my mare entertained and the smaller the bits of acrrot the tricker to remove- quite cheap also as i only go through 2 carrots a night when she has it!

Ha ha, I once spent ages threading vegetables onto a rope to hang in my pony's stable only for him to demolish it in less than 10 mins. Never again :D

I also spent ages as an 11 year old making this toy, and went into my ponies stable on xmas morning and he had somehow bashed his gums with it and there was blood all over his teeth and the swede! Didnt seem to deter him tho as he was still munching away on it when I arrived! Silly boy, I didnt make him another one!! :)
