I made some for Roo.
I got some oats and put treacle on and cooked it until it went golden brown and solid, (I can't be any more specific as I was going on trial and error basis) She loved them (as did I, kept stealing half before feeding her)

The other, I got a basic plain biscuit recipe and made that. It had flour, butter, sugar and I think 1 egg in it. For the sugar I just put a handful in rather then the amount it said. She liked them and I stole some of those too. :P

Weetabix, a little honey with chunks of carrots and polos, mould into a ball or any shape you like *oi you lot* pop in fridge.

You can make them into gifts too, little celophane, ribbon...

My poor friend spent hours slaving over a hot stove making treats .. and her normally greedy horse refused to eat them!

skippydo: It was a while ago, so I'll say what I remember.
I used normal porridge oats (just what happened to be in the cupboard.) Just chucked a good amount in a bowl (there was no measuring lol) and then I put treacle in, and mixed it all up (it was basically flapjack but I made it really sticky so that I could make it stay stuck in little squares.
Then I just left in cooker for probably about 15 minutes

Well I have done one experiment which is cooling and hopefully setting a bit along the lines of yours RG. I'm going do some more at the weekend.

I shall do a update post when i find one I am happy with!!

Either Henryhorn or MFH09 (can't remember which) have a super recipe for horses on box rest. PM them to repost...off to bed.

My friend made a doggie birthday cake with:

turkey mince
1 egg
a bit of flour
grated carrot
coriander
oil

Could try something like that minus the mince!
