Desperately trying to find homes for 3 ponies, who's owner is very ill. I am not going to go into the long long story, but basically it looks like I might be gaining three ponies.
Has anyone used this website? Do you get many replies?
If the situation worsens I may post a 'What on earth do I do?' thread!

I've just done an ad with them today. It isn't live yet as it has to be approved with them first. It's free and the woman I originally spoke to on the phone seemed sensible, so worth a go.

They were all driving ponies...
One is a section B who is about 12.2hh who is 12, one is an Exmoor who is 9 and finally a 4 year old Dales pony.
I will try not to get into the long long story, but basically the women who owns them has MS for over 10 years, and hasn't got long left. The ponies were on full livery with a lady, who took money off the owner, but never went near the ponies in over a year. The owner obviously struggles to get around, so eventually got in touch with me to help her with ponies and move them. They are now at another yard, and have had there feet done, wormed etc. They are all on serious diets a well, as if you leave a native pony on a 10 acre field of grass, well you can imagine! Amazingly none have had laminitis.

Problem is... Owner wanted them to find long term long homes... not sold, which is fair enough, but didn't want them to broken to ride. I finally convinced her that the likelihood of finding loan homes for driving ponies that hadn't been driven in a year was impossible. I have started backing them all, and the section B is the furthest ahead. Again, I don't know much of the history, and it seems very likely that the section B has been ridden before.

I know this really isn't the place for a moan like this, but the owner doesn't help herself. Why get a young horse when you have already got advanced MS? Her son is farrier, who won't talk to her either, and he is down south, so if he was willing to help it may be easier to find the ponies homes as well. The owner has very odd ideas, and is on a lot of morphine, so can be, lets just say, a bit funny.

Now I am wrapped up in this, and all I do is freelance work, originally I was just in it to catch and worm the ponies, then break them in. Now it looks like I might inherit them! if they go on loan homes I will be the one vetting the homes etc... Basically the only reason I am in this situation is because I want the best for the ponies.
This sounds like a really bad thought out troll post! And this is only half the story!

Regards the Dales Pony, if he's registered you'll probably be able to rehome him quite easily especially as a ride and drive. Contact the Secretary of the DPS as she has a good idea of who's looking for what. There's also Dales websites and FB pages you can advertise on, pm me if you want more info on them.

OP you could but them on carriagelink that sells driving horses and also there's a forum on the BHDTA website I would definatly post on there as a guest for suggestions and also I am right you are in the north there's the NEDTL who also have a for sales loans page you need to be a member to use it but if you ring them I am sure they will help you out in the circunmtances .
You can find driving homes for ponies they are in demand especially if the are FTAGH it worth you exploring these driving options.
If you get as many details as possible about what they did when they where driving that would be a great help.
Good luck.
