It looks like some honey bees are making their home in the cavity wall of my stable block. Every year we get plenty of wasps nest but the bees are a new one. Should i look into getting them removed? Dodging wasps is bad enough let alone bees.

You could probably contact local bee keepers, who would be very glad to remove them for you. I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable than me will know of who to call!

Honey bees are in decline so please don't kill them if you can help it!...If you contact your local council they should know someone local who would be willing to relocate them to a hive.

You could try the British Beekeepers Association http://www.bbka.org.uk/

Or see if you have a local beekeepers network in your area, I know there's one where I am.

A nuisance to you but a winner for a beekeeper. They are worth their weight in gold to them and will be very keen to take them off you. Hope they find a new home. I have contacted local beekeepers before and they usually will come straight out as they dont want to lose them.

Thank you everyone. I think they may have come from the hives a field away so will get in touch with them. I googled pics when i was at yard to identify them.

I get honey bees hanging around my tap in the yard and have seen quite a few today I might get in touch with the bee people do they come and catch them then?

I'd much rather dodge a bee than a wasp..

I find bees much more gentle and tolerant than wasps! There just trying to go about their business, please if you have to remove them don't let them be killed, as already said their on the decline.

Good luck with getting them moved.

Would prefer bees to wasps anyday! Bees will leave you alone..wasps will hunt you down. Would be lovely if a beekeeper could have them. I had bumble bees in my wall by my back door last year. I loved seeing them come and go about their business.

They will do no harm, ive had little brown wild honey bees in my stable doors (in the cavity) for nearly 8 years now, the horses live out 24/7during the summer so I leave them alone, more than happy to have them :) the will swarm at some point and find new homes , it's nice to see they doing what bees do :)
