Hello,

I'd like to buy a lycra hood for Charisma as last year her rug rubbed the bottom half of her mane and her shoulders. I don't know what size to get - she is a 15.2 full tb with pointy shouders (I don't know how else to descrbe them!)

Also, do you take them off when it's raining? I cab't imagine they would be very comfortable when they are wet but both her owner and I work all day and there is no one else to tend to her during the day, so she will have to keep it on.

Do you guys keep it on all the time, or only when you's going somewhere the next day and want to keep them clean?

Thanks

Jenny

I'm thinking of getting one for my cob. He's 14.2hh but has a 6foot rug so I'm going med/large, he's got a thick neck as well. I would think you would want something the same size as what I'm looking for, there's 2 horses near me that have them on all day in the rain and they don't seam bothered about it. (Both are TB's) So I'm guessing you can leave them on, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Sorrry whaffling on now. :)

You can't turnout in a lycra hood. It's very very dangerous!

If you want to turnout in it buy a Snuggyhood. They come in a variety of sizes, have a look at their website. But they are safe to turnout in as that is what they are designed for.

I don't think they are that different other than the quality of the material and the fit of them. The snuggy hoods turnout ones are waterproof. Sunggy hoods seem to be made v carefully and they fit brilliantly - they will also adjust it for you to ensure the best possible fit - this makes it safer for turnout as the good fit means they don't slip over eyes etc. Brilliant hoods and worth the £ - esp if you have a mud loving grey!

I bought the Snuggy Turnout 'Head' from YHL yesterday. I'm really pleased with the quality and the fit. It looks like it would be shower proof at least.

Horsey was not best pleased, as although he was comfy and warm, he looked like a bandit with huge ears! We stood at the fence cracking up at him!! Mwah ha ha

i have a snuggy hood size medium/large for our 15hh mare .they are fantastic.she wears hers day and night all winter.fits perfectly and doesnt move .when wet it drys fairly quickly but at the moment she wears a full neck rug as well so only the head gets wet.i think the new snuggy hoods are now waterproof .well worth the money in my opinion.

another one for snuggy hoods. I wish I hadn't wasted my money on the no neck version though as git of a gray got that one off. He can't remove his long necked one though and it is saving me so much time in removing mud.

Only whinge is that I had to sew fake fur on the noseband as it rubbed him but think they are fantastic
