hoof abscess question

Obviously polticed and wrapped etc but do you tend to box rest or turn out?

initially mine was in the stable until sound. then bought a rubber poultice boot so he could go out. main thing is to keep it clean so depends a lot on the ground etc. initlally he was out but kept in the yard so that he could potter but still keep foot clean. it can help the abcess to burst if they are moving around.

Turn out. The movement helps encourage them to burst and they drain quicker too.

Mine live out and the big ginger tb has just had an absess, poultice came off tuesday! I could have bought him but he hates it! Personal opionion is is good for them to be moving around

A hot poultice, nappy (yes nappy) gaffer tape and lob out. change poultice at least once a day. Used to have an old horse that got one every other month :-(
