Hi

Does anyone have any experience with multiple brands of hoof boot? I am now sure that Cavallos of any size do not fit my boy. And the question is does anyone know a good alternative.

I tried the size 4's (134-141mm) first.. way too big..
Then size 3 (126-133mm).. left foot boot slightly loose, right foot boot way too big
Then a size two (118-125mm) (thinking perhaps i can mix and match) both boots way too narrow.

He was trimmed about 2 weeks ago, and has done a bit on the road which has taken his toe right down short.. not sure if/how this affects my decsion making. Is there a brand better known for accomodating a foot that is wider than it is long? Should i trim the sides and see if i can squeeze him into a 2 - or allow the feet to grow into a three?

I'm in France so postage of sending boots back is a nightmare (and they are much more expensive to buy here), hence why i'm trying to make an educated guess. That or he'll have to be shod again very soon as he's right down on his sole now poor little mite!

Thanks in advance.

Just a thought have you tried the cavallo sports boots - you can order them individually. I've had a few boots but found the cavallos suit my mare perfectly (she's cob x trotter and has very neat feet and size 4 fits her well. We have sports boots on another and he has two totally different feet, we found a small piece of high density foam in the boot when he is first trimmed helps it fit perfectly (as his boot fits better when he's due a trim). It's a huge case of trial and error finding boots to fit and feel your pain. Hope you get sorted. X

My cob has wider than long feet and I've found that the easyboot glove wides fit perfectly. They are quite hard to get on until you get used to it, and must fit very closely to work properly, but they've been a godsend for my horse.
Be aware that they do give slightly with wear, so they really must be a tight fit when new, if you're not sweating and swearing getting them on in the first few weeks, then they're probably a bit big!!
They are brilliant though, not clumpy at all and mine have never come off unintentionally, highly recommended...
Have also tried marquis, epics, cavallo's and old macs, but glove wides by far the best.
