Does anyone use these on their young horses?

I've recently moved to a new yard and the tracks are really stoney, my boy has just turned 3 and I took him for his first walk down the lanes tonight and I could see he was a bit tender at a couple of points, so wondered if hoof boot things might work? and I obviously don't want to get him shod yet!

I don't have a young horse (15) but she started wearing hoof boots on hacks last week and I can safely say they are great!! She is so much happier in them, and I am happier knowing she is comfortable :)

My youngster wears them on his fronts, he's ok on plain old Tarmac but if its stony he's a little uncomfortable. Hopefully one day he'll be able to do without completely.

You will need to measure his feet and find the boots most suitable to his hoof shape, when they first arrive make sure you try them on somewhere safe and quiet as when they first start to move around it feels very strange for them and also may over reach more easily

We have a youngster of about the same age and have used Cavallo boots on her whilst she was recovering from an abcess last year and again this year when we were getting her to be comfortable with loading.
On both occasions she took to them straight away and they did their job. They kept her vetwrap in place in a muddy field and prevented any damage to hooves whilst gingerly padding around the loading ramp.

Regards,

Liz.
