I know there have been posts on hoof boots before, but I'm after more specific advise from those who use them.

My cob has nearly round feet - I've just measured his shoe (yes, the one I've been traipsing around the field to find!) and it's 139mm wide and 138mm long. I've been looking at the easycareinc website, and the Old Macs originals would be the best, but even then he's a size 6 width and 8 in length!

So, does anyone else have a horse with nearly round feet successfully wearing boots?

I should say he doesn't need them due to foot problems, I'm just fed up with him pulling them off, and we only do light hacking, he copes fine with just fronts on but going barefoot all round is too much for him.

Have a look at easy boots - try here - http://www.easycareinc.com/education/new_to_boots.aspx

I have used these boots on my mare - i have them on front and backs now - the backs have been used for about 18 months. In the summer I was doing between 8 & 10 miles 4 / 5 days a week, and over the winter we have been cantering through some pretty boggy stuff, and I haven't lost a boot, or had any twisting in the boots at all.

ETA - also you do need to measure the foot when it has been trimmed correctly - measure the foot not the shoe - as this will very likely give you quite different measurements!

I used old macs g2 before - and I found the easyboots much more simple to put on and to get the correct sizing. I didn;t like the velcro at all on the old macs - I could not see these staying put in the long run. I have the easy boot epics on the fronts and the bares onthe backs as my mare moves quite close behind, and the buckle on the front of the epics was wrecking her hind brushing boots!!

My mare has quite round welsh feet - and I like the fact the easy boots have the gaiters to help keep them in the correct place, which are built into the boot.

my big wb lad has a front pair of marquis supergrip, his feet are very round and they fit perfectly, i was allowed to try them before buying too, to make sure they fitted. really pleased with them, never move, don't rub, have cantered (and had a buck!) in them without problems.

I've had a look at the Marquis boots, how do you find the inflatable bits work? Do you have to inflate them everytime you ride, and how do you inflate them, do you have to use a bicycle pump because I'm not sure my horse would cope with that?!

You inflate them to fit every time you ride and let them down when you finish. they supply a little pump with the boots - didn't think mine would let me do it but she got used to them really quickly and pings around like she has got trainers on!! They used to do a system of try before you buy rental which might be worth looking into.
