Good morning,
I was wondering if it was possible to use hoof boots in showjumping horses.
Could they have any advantage/disadvantage using them instead of the classical shoes? Do you have any experience about it?
Thank you for your answer.

I wouldn't want to personally. I have done a Trec in hoof boots, where there was quite a long cross country type PTV, and we had to do three or four jumps as well as all the usual down slope, through water, ditches, corridor, etc. but the fences weren't that high and fixed.

I think for show jumping there might be the added risk of touching a pole with the boot as it does stick out very slightly.
Plus, ifyou were cornering very sharply there might be chance of the horse stepping on the hoof boot. Don't know what anyone else things.

I wouldn't - but to be honest I'd be concerned that a horse needed hoof boots to work on a surface/grass - if they are given a suitable amount of time when the shoes first come off even a TB shouldn't be that sore.

Most of mine are barefoot and compete both xc and sj without boots, I don't have any as they are fine on all surfaces, most of the sj is on a surface so studs are not required so I cannot see any reason you would need to use them, if the horse is struggling getting to and from the arena without boots I would not be competing until they were genuinely sound.
If they need studs to jump/ event on grass then I will shoe for the season.

Why would you need them?

And no, I definitely wouldn't. Hoof boots can come off and they don't just come off cleanly every time. It would be an accident waiting to happen.
