Righto, short story is we're 7months into a barefoot transition and last month we got a mega abscess! I don't think it's anything management related, just unlucky. There have been 3 others on the yard on as many months and vet said they're everywhere! Anyway, there is some poor quality sole that's now growing out and vet & podiatrist have recommended hoof boots in the short term. Only problem is, I've measured the great big mud splashers and in front he is 2cm longer than he is wide after a fresh trim. Alarm bells are ringing when I look at the cavallo sport sizing as they're only designed to be 5mm narrower in the width. Are his toes too long or is this normal? Will try and get some photos - he's 16.2 and a middle weight so generally big boned and hooved!
