Am thinking of getting hoof boot /s for my 19yr old part TB boy. Since I have had him regular farrier visits, magic hoof oil and good feeding have improved his feet no end and we dont often get shoes falling off now but today we did - right in the middle of my time off.

Whats the opinion about using a hoofboot as a temp fix for some hour long hacks / 30 mins schooling sessions until new shoe fitted. Which make?

Also: are there some boots I could use over his metal shoes to help him down the very stony lane to the summer field. He has flatish feet and does get stone sore easily.

Lastly - the shoe thats come off is a hind, the ones that need help in the summer are the front - are some makes more flexible to fit both hind and fore feet?

I use the easy boot epics and bares - I've used them on and off for several years and really rate them

I'm not sure about using a boot as a replacement for a lost shoe other than for protecting his foot from becoming sore. If the shoe and boot are a different thickness it could be uncomfy for him especially as an older boy.

None of the boots I have seen /used are designed to use over shoes I think. I think the shoes would damage the internals of the boot

The easy boots come individually and any boot can be put on any foot BUT normally the fronts and hinds will be different sizes

Why not take his hinds

Gah phone!!!

Why not take his hinds off? You could use boots for road work still if his feet won't take it and then you don't have the trouble of lost shoes

If you get boots you need to make sure you get the right size. On the easy care website there is a page which shows the boots they do and the shapes they are so you can get the best ones shaped for his feet. Ask your farrier if your not sure :)
