Hi there,
My horse needs to have his shoes of for a few months to let his feet just be feet without any nails in.
Im hoping to leave him out but he may have to come in if the weather is sucky and he wont be able to walk over the ground to the stables as it is stoney.
Was wondering if anyone had ever used hoof boots for this kinda thing? I might buy him some old macs to work in but I couldnt really put them on muddy feet out in the field cos there a bit fiddley (1 of my other horses has some)
Any ideas for a cheap ish way to get him from field to stable would be an amazing help.
Thanks tons
Vicki

I know what you mean about putting Old Macs on muddy feet, but I did use to do it - I had some really old well worn in ones that were like slippers and they weren't too much of a fiddle, though I did get my hands very muddy!

Other times I just used to walk her up the verges and the less stony bits of the track. Walking over surfaces is actually good conditioning although obviously within reason.

You could try putting down a strip of wood chip on the stony bit to walk her over then you won't need the boots to lead in...or try the shoof boot that endurance riders use for a replacement shoe.
