Hi, a recent incident has prompted me to think whether it would be a good idea to protect my girl's feet a bit better when out hacking; she is barefoot and I want to keep her that way as her feet are in excellent condition but some paths around where we are are a bit stoney and since she got a flint in her foot last weekend resulting in injury I wonder if hoof boots may be a feasible solution to be able to ride out more carefree -

does anyone have any experience with any of them and any particular brands and how comfortable do you think they are? If I went for this, I would be very keen to have only very lightweight ones too, are there any that are better or worse?

I use boa boots in winter as my horses live out and thier feet soften up in the mud. I find them great. Expensive initially but last ages, easy to put on once you get used to them and my horses move great in them

Have tried 3 types for poor TB hooves in summer - Easyboot, Boas & Old Macs (original & G2s). Both he & I prefer the Old Macs. He is sound straight away in these & happy to hack in them.

I've got Boa boots, they're fine, although have come off once or twice when she has spooked and stood on herself! But they'd be pretty impressive not too!

one of other liveries got a pair a few years ago, (dont know what make), as her horse always pulled his shoes off

if you decide to get some, make sure they fit properly as they ended up cutting all his pastern/fetlock area, and casued more problems
