Hoof Boots

I heard of these for the first time the other day, a friend of mine suggested using them, she rides her horse, a 16h tb at least twice a week in them and his first set has lasted her over 5 years!!!!!!!!!

certainly worth the money if they lasted mine that long!!!!!

I use marquis boots, I got the to use over the winter when the fields turn to soup and she cant keep shoes on. It saves me about £40 every time for the farrier as I she only needs her feet trimmed so theywill pay for themselves. I use them on front and back

My YO uses them on her dressage mare over the winter. She has rather upright, boxy feet that my YO hopes are improving by being left barefoot for six months at a time. In summer she hacks out more so has shoes on all four feet, but in winter she mainly stays in the school. Petal gets a bit sore-footed hacking barefoot, so YO puts Marquis boots on her front feet for hacking. She loves them, as far as I am aware she has absolutely no complaints about them. She has a glow-in-the-dark pair too, they're really spooky (but good if you lose them in the woods and have to go back after dark lol)!

I use Old macs on my old chap - he suffers concussion so cannot be shod with metal shoes. I only use them for hacking but they are brilliant. he took to them straight away, but then he is 26 and not a lot bothers him! even put carrier bags over them to try them out for size the first time as didn't want to scuff the bottoms til I knew they were the right size and he was not in the slightest bit concerned by the bags on the ends of his leggies!

Mine only last about 6/8 months but thats more because of the fact he scuffs one toes due to a previous knee injury and he is lazy on that leg (I know they are not recommended for toes scuffers but it works for mine anyway!) - if it wasn't for that think they would last twice as long. But he is so confident in them now and we can hack over even the really stoney ground, he knows when I put them on we are going out!

There is an art to putting them on, takes a while to perfect but once you have the hang its easy! Mine even helps me now, I put the toe in place and get it half on then I tell him to stamp (like a child putting their shoes on!! lol !!) and he stamps his foot so they go right on!! makes me laugh every time!

i only use them on the fronts.

I've got Easyboot Bares for one of my horses, which we use on stoney tracks. He is barefoot and his feet cope with pretty much anything, but he's not 100% over stones yet. We only use them on the front feet.

I have just had to purchase Cavello Boots (also recommended were Dallmer Clogs). I have been getting my tb mare used to wearing them for the last few days and today we went for a hack. She was still a bit unbalanced, but was beginning to step out properly by the end of the ride. She certainly wasn't worried about the hard surface with them on. She was more worried about the stones with her shod front feet.

Not sure how long they will last, but I am only using them for hacking so I am hopeful that they will be more cost effective than shoeing.
