My youngster just moved yards and prior to doing so had cracks around the toe area of her front hooves. Farrier said this was due to weather conditions and that she has good feet but on her last trim he noticed it's a little infected. He aid to keep clean and wash with hibi scrub once a week which I'm doing.

Previously my mare was in a soft field and flat concrete but on the new yard there is a stony path to her field and also to the menage. I've noticed that occasionally she is limping on her front left leg, say in 5 strides she might limp once. I think it might be that she's footsore due to the new terrain.

I have noticed that once her feet are picked out and brushed out around the crack she's less footsore. I'm going to check with my farrier today but any advice would be appreciated? Should I be doing more about the cracks? Is it likely to be footsore rather than lame? In the field she is sound and also in the menage it's just walking between them. If it is footsore I can look at getting some front boots possibly? I'll need to figure out the sizings.
