The Friesians got rubbish dried and cracked feet atm and is having trouble keeping his shoes on. I've re organised his feed and am about to start him on a supplement. I'd love your opinions on which supp. I've narrowed it down to three that I like the sound of - Newmarket hoof supp. , ' Aviform biodura' or NAF Profeet. Or could anyone recommend anything that really worked for them.
I want to put a topical product on his feet as well - there's two I like the sound of (so far) 'Kevin Bacon dressing' or 'Cut Heal Hoof Heal'. What do we think?
Your opinions and suggestions would be really helpful - thanks everyone!

No idea about a supplement, but Ive used Kevin Bacons dressing (the big tub or what looks pretty much like lard!) and I really liked it.

I use the Kevin Bacon hoof dressing and find it to be very good, helps keep the moisture in the hoof. My Farrier recommended it a long time ago, he can tell when Im using it. My horse has Baileys Lo Cal Balancer which has all the nutrients in for general health and well being which covers hooves too.

I've had great success using the kevin Bacon dressing. Started on advice of my farrier and it really made a difference. Used to improve both shod and unshod feet. I don't feed so can't advise on supplements.

Hoof supps you want a good level of copper, zinc and magnesium so Pro hoof, Forageplus or Thunderbrooks base mix are the ones with the best . As for dressings don't bother save your money or spend it on the supps :) hoof health comes from diet high fibre ,low starch, low sugar . X
