Please can you help me?

My name is Karen Beaumont; I am conducting a research project as part of my Level 2 studies with the Institute of Applied Equine Podiatry.

My chosen subject is Equine Hoof Education. To produce this paper I have compiled a questionnaire to:- a)investigate if there is a lack of communication between Hoof Care Professionals and Horse Owners b) evaluate horse owner's individual knowledge on hoof anatomy, function and disease. My aim is to establish if reliable information is sought by horse owners, and whether or not a need exists for the development and facilitation of educational material for horse owners in respect of the equine hoof.

The study is currently only aimed at persons keeping their horse within the United Kingdom.

If you can assist, I would like too invite you too fill in my online questionnaire. To do this, just click on the link below:

If you have any questions or comments about the study or would like to receive a summery of the findings please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many Thanks for your time.

The study was badly designed...incorrectly termed 'hoof deformities' and did not allow me to decline to answer questions when they were not appropriate.
Therefore you will have a lot of false answers.
Just what I'd expect from an Equine Podiatry Hoof Care Professional (incidentally, I have done Basic First Aid...does that make me a 'Medical Professional'? No, I thought not.)

I filled it in but found issues with some of the questions.
eg Should be Daily OR Weekly as the difference would be a factor of 7. . Also re sources of information?, a separate option is required for Farrier OR 'Hoof Care Professional'

The questions and options for answers will come out with the requried result for your purposes, but not meet Market Research standards of robust data or Academic criteria for a UK accredited qualification.

has some useful tips if you plan another one.
Or try the Market Research Society website

I exited the survey as there were not options which I felt were the ones which reflected my experience, I occasionally ride on surfaces which you gave as options but did not feel that the frequencies you choose were appropriate. I therefore did not complete this survey.

I filled it in, but as I have one horse barefoot trimmed by a DAEP and one horse shod by a Farrier, the survey meant I had to choose one or the other horse to apply the questions to.

Ok, ive filled it out, but i felt some of the questions where resricting, for starters theres alot of difference between a magazine and a book... I would very rarely refer to a magazine, but always reading books, but what about scientific papers, they are a fantastic resource, and one i use all the time. Also, I felt strangled with the term hoof care profesional... I would ask my farrier anything, but would never ever look towards a barefoot trimmer, i do not believe they have anymore knowledge than me im afraid. Would it not have been worth asking how mnay horses each person is in charge of, and maybe aiming it at people with more than one horse... add more other boxes! allows people more freedon, which provides you more information

Hind sight is certainly a wonderful thing.

I do appreciate the time you have all taken to do my survey. Your feed back is both interesting and thought provoking.

I will continue to take guidence with the production of my paper and endeavour to produce a professional document.

L Cobby - thank you for bringing to my attention those useful links.

Well I thought the survey was ok and quite enjoyed completing it. Surveys are hard to put together and I expect that using pre-prepared pro forma surveys does limit how the survey can be set out.

ts the first voluntary survey I've ever done that had the possibility of a prize - and a good prize at that!
