Okie so farrier coming Wednesday and getting a hoof boot fitting
But Barry has some bruising on hoof sole and refuses to stand on it
On his tip toe
Want to know what I can use for suitable padding to make him feel better before experts arrive

Hoof Boot like the ones you can take off like the cavallo ones? You can get pads for them. I am not sure you will be able to get a good fit with a nappy on underneath as they need to be close fitting.

He’s putting weight on it now while standing but still walking kinda toe first
Not sure if it’s cuz it’s still sore or he’s expecting pain? Will see what he’s like tomorrow can put more mat padding in it if not suitable?

I use a few nappies as they flatten very easily, another thing that works well is any kind of foam cut to size or I had some foam tubes that I taped together then taped to the bottom of the foot.

I nabbed the rubber mud guards off the car once - i still have it to use as hoof padding. You can also use car footwell rubber mats, theyre quite thin and cushiony - you can cut as many as needed to create a very thick, long-lasting cushion Sole-pad.

I’ve kept neoprene old wellies for the neoprene to use as hoof pads. Theyre great.

I often then put a nappy over the whole lot to enable me to gaffa tape the whole hoof, just beyond hoof wall for a secure fit, if turning out. Dont tape super tight around the nappy fetlock, there’s a finger-gap for movement/breathability.

These materials are great for lami/bruising cases as often foam squashes too much, camping mat eva foam does - i find any flexible rubbery sheet material will with-stand turnout very well, be comfy, providing enough duct tape is used to secure the pad.

Tried my best! He was very very good for it stood like a lamb after he understood I wasn’t there to injure his foot more
