My mares have just moved fields to allow their current one to rest and they now has to walk over a stony area to get from the yard to the field. One shod in front but barefoot behind and i'd like to keep it that way if i can help it. It's only a very small stony bit and she isn't in work so other than that small patch she's always on grass. I was thinking of putting hoof boots on to walk over that patch, but with me being a cheepskate
& trying to save money wherever i can i was thinking would poultice boots work? I know they're only really meant for use in stables but when i say it's a small patch, it really is. It's about 5m from dirt path to grass bit i still feel bad walking her across it. She comes down to the yard 3 or 4 times per week, would poultice boots stand up to this or would it be false economy & i'm best looking out on e-bay for a pair of old mac's or boa's?
