Hi

Had good news with Finn from the vet yesterday. Having gone throuh nerve blocks, box rest and being turned away and slowly brought back back into work. We are allowed to play properly. Finn is looking good, no more scuffing of hind feet, heels growing, 3 degree natural balance all woking, back pain almost all gone he will some accupuncture nextweek. At the moment am 6 1/2 months into my ins claim where everything is covered, farrier, phsyio and hoof supplements. Now finn has been on Farriers Formula since problem diagnosed. he hates it and farrier didn't really rate it but as it was pescribed by vet and covered by ins we have used it. I don't know if I should change him now. I know it takes 9 to 12 mths for horn regrowth, is there a product out there that is better. Tried him pro feet he spat it back at me.

My farrier and vets were very surpised right at the beginning of treatment how well his feet were doing when he was throwing his eggs bars and pads every 3 days that his feet were not smashed to pieces as the supplement takes a while to work. They agreed it was down to the homeopathic remedies that i had made up for him.

Any suggestions or advice please gratefully recieved.

I've put both mine on to sunflower seeds (thanks to ppl on here) - had the farrier yesterday and he said there is a definite difference as I used to be able to get away with trimming twice a year coz TBx feet refused to grow but he said there is an improvement.

Brilliant news - long may it continue.

I decided to go down the feed balancer route rather than feed hoof suppliments to my horse. It's cheaper, and provides a more balanced diet (IMO).

I use Redmills which is around £16.00 a bag, compared to hoof suppliments such as farriers formula which are around £50.00 mark.

Can't tell you about any results yet as he has only been having it for a couple of months. But I certinaly hope that by this time next year the quality of his horn will be improved.

Athena's been having Pro Feet in her feed for over a year now and she's managed to keep her shoes on for nearly 8 weeks!!! Even my farrier said that her hooves are in good condition. I would definitely recommend using it

Have just put him a balancer so will how that goes, He looks like Bumpy. Will give the sunflower seeds ago. Just want to get things into motion when Insurance runs out and I have to pay for it.

Thanks

Ally

Be careful not to add anything that could compromise what you are allready feeding.........

I have recently moved from Farriers Formula + Suregrow and Hifilite for my youngster onto just Dengie Healthy Hooves, which has everything in one bag and is lo cal and lami safe and she adores it and so far hooves look just as good. It has a nutritionally significant amount of biotin in it. She has never been shod and has flat soft slow growing hooves so I would soon notice a difference!

It also has mint and garlic in it and is moist and has nuts and mollassed chaff and is so nice smelling I feel like eating it myself (as did the mice who made a hole in the back of the bag and were carrying it away in their pockets :-)))

BTW its a lot more appetising looking than Spillers Happy Hoof which looks like dry sawdust in comparison, yuk...

hope this is useful idea
