Hi all. I had a post earlier about my horses hooves which have gone very bad altogether :-( I first started him off on 20g Biotin a day and then decided to switch to Farriers Formula which he gets 170g of per day. I also found a lot of information saying that flax/linseed could help with their feet so I bought a flax jelly of which he is getting about 400ml per day. He has been on this diet for about a month and so far I have seen no improvement whatsoever. I have also been rubbing cornucrescine onto his coronary band every day.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to what I can do to help him grow better quality hooves and to try speed up the growth? I'm at my wits end with him at this stage. Thanks a million!

It will take about 9 months to grow out a new hoof so whatever changes you make to the diet will not really show until the new horn has grown, you may see better horn growing down but the strong new growth will be at the top, certainly nothing much will be seen after a month, you may need to look at his whole diet to ensure he is getting everything required to grow strong horn as well as removing anything unsuitable such as molasses.
