Just wondering if anyone can help me?

I moved yards last weekend and when the horses were turned out, they hooned with excitement at the grass and big open space. I saw my grey horse buck and sort of stumble, then take 2-3 lame steps on the right hind then he was fine and looked sound again. Felt his legs all over and no swelling, no heat, nothing. We trotted him up and he looked sound so we left him to it.

Rode him for the first time since moving this weekend and while hewas fine at first, about half way through schooling he started to canter disunited on the right rein which is very unlike him.

Stopped riding him, trotted him up. Again he trotted up sound but we decided to call it a day. Still no swelling, no heat, nothing to suggest tendon injury.

What to do now?

I'll give him another week off, he's no longer hooning about so I'm happy to turn him out. I wonder if he can have pulled a muscle? Does anyone have any experience of this?

He has more than likely injured his muscles in some way. the mere fact that you say he was cantering disunited and this is unlike him would suggest he is in discomfort. get a sports pr physiotherapist out to him ASAp. It will promote his healing and ensure he is not left with a lingering niggle. ideally he needs deep tissue work on the areas affected to sort the muscles out. good luck
