We are back looking at horse boxes again - this time I have been given a bigger budget, which looks more promising.

There is a very promising looking Bedford TK Okley box up the road from us.

Sorry for totaly self absorbed post but I am VERY happy about this

It has taken a lot of time and earnest discussion, and looking in the papers and going out to see a couple of awful duds for under £2000. I knew he was caving in today when he said that he had bagged a 24volt batterry recharger "in case we ever get a lorry". It has also become apparent that he has been grumbling about it at work

. Personally I think that he just gave in under the barrage of talking about it

Be careful with Bedford TK's. We looked at one Yonks ago, and were warned that parts were very hard to get hold of!
have fun looking.

yes, and are also very liable to get stolen for that very reason....

That was exactly what I was warned about - and funnily enough, within days of being given that advice, the gearbox from the bedford at our yard was knicked!!

yes but if you buy one cheap then remove the box and spend a little more money on a newer chassis...its what we are doing....

Bedford parts are HARD to get hold of, but NOT IMPOSSIBLE!

I think somewhere we have a list of part dealers, and we picked ourselves up a mechanic who specialised in them - although we went through his spare lights at a rate of knots (Dorey scratches her ass on them...)

the best place, ironically, is australia, so I've heard...

We needed several new parts over the years and got all of them pretty easily. Helps that through having a bedford in the field, bedfordy people would come and natter.

And on the gypsy front - ours came and asked to buy her... but they didn't ask half as much as we wanted so we declined - only time they've ever mentioned her.

The only time anything ever vanished was when we parked her outside our field before a show as the gateway was prone to getting muddy and rain was on the way, some little prat ran off with a light (again, what is it with the damn lights!)
