Hello,

Would appreciate some advice

!

My horse has been standing in a wet field for a couple of days. His cuticles have turned white and are approx 1cm in width (and have been this way for 3 days). Hooves are fine, no cracks, dishes etc.

I wouldn’t be concerned if we’d just been on a days hunting and he was now going home to a dry stable, but he lives out nowadays.

So given that the field could remain damp for a while, how worried should I be about his cuticles being so pronounced for this length of time?

I can't offer advice I'm afraid, as I just don't know. If I were you, I give my farrier a ring. He'd be the best to advise and would be the most reasuring for you.

I'm not sure what you mean by cuticles?? Do you mean the coronary band or perhaps the white line? Whichever, having got rather damp should not prove a problem.
