Just thought I'd let you all know that my old boy went to the vets yesterday. (Bit self indulgent!!)
Have had an awful week so was dreading bad news about his navicular. Really he just went for a check as been 18 months since he was diagnosed and as hes 16 and a TB thought it must have got worse.
He trotted up sound except 1/10 lame on first 2 strides. (Vet thinks due to naughty farrier creeping shoes forward and lost heel support- as had been sound on straight). Was 1/10 lame on left circle and 2/10 lame on right.
Thing is he used to be 2/10 on both!! She said he seemed really good and convinced the few wobbly strides will be sorted by getting shoes further back as before.
We did a lateral xray of each foot just to see if any bony changes had occured. They are exactly the same as his ones from July 05!! No changes atall. (He also has minor arthritis in right coffin joint which was no worse!)
So pleased as he is on cortavet and worked up to twice a week or surface or soft going and only walked on the road. (Has had navilox and steroid jabs when first diagnosed).
Couldnt believe there were no changes to the condition so hopefully we will have a good few years pottering around- vet said keep doing whatever I want as its not worsened condition!
I know there are several of you on here with recently diagnosed navicular so hopefully if they are all carefully managed you can get the same good news 2 years on!
