Going to look at horse on Sunday. Will be LWVTB for 2 months first and unless there is something glaringly wrong or she hates me then she'll be coming home with us on Sunday and i am so excited. This will be my very first horse all as my own after lessons and shares for the past 20 years.
If we are getting along well then i will have her vetted while on the LWVTB. She's an older lady 18 but perfect for me as she's a happy hacker and after some recent confidence issues where i have decided all i actually want to do is enjoy my horse then i think she is the way forward for me - on paper at least she is the perfect horse for me so fingers crossed the reality matches up to this.
Pointless post really i'm just so excited i needed to share. :)

It sounds very exciting but without dampening your enthusiasm..might it be a good idea to have horse vetted before going home with you. Playing devils advocate here ..but what if there is an issue which is masked on Sunday..which then becomes apparent whilst with you and the owners try to blame you for any damage. I genuinely want to think the best of people but having read many tales of woe on here I wonder if you should err on the side of caution in order to protect yourself. More experienced folk might have more on an insight on this.

I agree with midlife crisis, get her vetted at her home so you know what problems she has (if any)and you can make a decision whether to have her...good luck and we will need photos if you get her....

As someone who bought their horse after a 6 month trial I agree with Midlifecrisis and Splashgirl45 that you should have her vetted and agree the final purchase price before you take her home. The other thing you should consider is what happens if heaven forbid the horse needs to be PTS during the trial period? In my case I had to ensure H was insured for LOU as well as death to ensure that the owners "asset" was protected in all eventualities. If you're only loaning for 2 months it may be worth enquiring as to whether the owner is happy to continue with their current insurance with you paying them the premiums directly until you actually purchase the horse. Best of luck on Sunday x
