Anyone tried any supplements or herbal additives for hormonal mares? I have a 3 year old New Forest X who is very hormonal. She is producing milk (vet has seen her and said that it's just one of those things - her age, seasons and to ignore it unless there is any sign of mastitis which there isn't). I've been away on holiday for a week and just got back to be told that she was being aggressive to one of the other mares - the other mare is bottom of the pecking order in the field and my 3 year old was trying to mount it and acting like a stallion! She was in the starve patch with this other mare at the time, so could possibly have been hungry, but as she is such a gannet and is already overweight I can't put her out 24/7 in the big field with the other mares - she goes into the big field at night with them. I could bring her into her stable either day or night time, but I would if possible like to leave her out - they have enough time in the stable in winter! The strange thing is that she has always really liked this other mare and they are normally to be found grooming each other, so not sure what has gone wrong Any suggestions gratefully received regarding any supplements which might help. Thanks!

third oestress although i feed the powdered form
a random one - but raspberry plants and fruit help - i encourage a patch of wild raspberries and my mare self medicates on them

Thanks all - I've had a look at the ingredients of both the No More Moods and the Oestress and it looks like the active ingredient of them both is Chaste berries and magnesium. I think I might try the Oestress and if no success with that I can try the No More Moods. Vet is coming to my other horse on 27th so if no change by then, I will speak to them about her. Hopefully it's just a juvenile, hormonal stage she's going through!
