Hi Im concidering breeding from my mare next year. She has had a good run jumping up to 1.30, she is coming up for 11yrs and the intention was to always have a foal from her as I bred her. Also I would like to concentrate on my 5yr old.
She is very very quite about coming into season - in fact I never notice, it would be very hard timing insemination, in addion as she can be very twitchy about her back legs a few studs have suggested a hormone injection, rather than a possible "flirting" with one of their stallions.
Can anyone tell me about this injection, what it involves, when is it done, when would she be inseminated and any side effects/risks?
Thanks
