What an arwful afternoon.

I lead one of the youngsters out with a friends horse who was meant to be good!
Her horse spooked at a truck and run up the road. . . I managed to catch her and we headed home. . .

Am now really worried about the youngster, he is a star on the roads and doesn't worry about anything but was really upset on the way back today. . .

Will this be one of those scaring moments he never forgets?

What is the best thing to do now?

I have the option to take him out again tomorrow with another friends horse who is 100% on the road. . . have been out with them before. . will this be a good idea to build his confidence again?

I feel arwful, he has been doing so well, hope this hasn't ruined all his hard work.

Poor you....yes definatly get him out tomorrow and the next day just to build his confidence.....I think you may be worrying about it more than he is though, he'll prob be fine tomorrow
 
I had the same kind of experience with my rock solid teenage gelding a friend hacked out with me on my youngster. The gelding freaked at something hed never had a problem with, it is a nightmare as you choose companion to avoid this!

just to reassure you they do copy what other horses do, but from the pattern not just a single event, my youngster was fine at that place in the following occasions, just a bit nervous (lots of poos!) but was fine and gained confidence as no monsters emerged!

so it will be fine, I really think dont worry. And remember with a youngster, they are taking signals from you, so you have to be big brave mum/dad for you both!
 
yes, take him with the other horse. Happened to mine last week but a couple of times out with his 'friend' he seems to be taking it all in his stride again.
