I can't stop thinking about a dream I had last night.

I dreamt that Angus got out onto the road and was hit by a vehicle. He was in a lot of pain and obviously wasn't going to survive his injuries and I was screaming for someone to find someone with a gun so we could put him out of his misery right there and then. Everyone just stood around looking at me silently, not doing anything and I am sat in the road with Angus' head in my lap just screaming and screaming for a gun.

It seemed so real :(

I actually cried when I saw him today, it made me so sad to think of anything bad happening to him.

Am I the only one who has had a bad dream about their horse?

Gosh thats quite an experience for you! No, I have never had a a dream like that. All I can say is MrsElle, It was a dream, it's all over now. You're back in reality.

I can imagine you will be vigilant beyond all reason from now on!

I once dreamt that I stabbed my horse in the neck and killed her to stop somebody from taking her. I woke up feeling really horrible thinking it was true and worrying that the RSPCA would be coming to get me. Took me ages to realise it was just a dream and go back to sleep.

How horrible. :(

No, you aren't the only one. I have had a really awful dream about my horse breaking her leg in the field and no one coming to help me, was really awful. Made an extra special fuss of her the next day.

I often have bad, very vivid dreams that means I wake up very upset. I have been told it is because I have a very active mind which struggles to switch off- doesn't help how I feel the next day though. I often feel drained all day after a particularly bad one.

*hugs* Even though they're just dreams, they hurt :( Hope you're alright!

I had one where I had to feed my dog a pill that would kill her, because she was ill and they didn't think she would make it. I remember the feeling of dread when I realised when I had done I just wanted her to spit it back up so I could stay with her longer...but she was already gone :( Even though it was about 5am, I ran downstairs when I woke up and curled up with her in her bed.

I also had one similar, Ned had got out and was hit, but he was already dead when I found him :( So sad!!!

On a good note, I had a dream I'd win the championships with Ned :D

Not so strange Mrs Elle.

I lost my mare in July with a horrifically broken leg. I swear if I had a gun I would have shot her myself. The vet didn't take long to come, but every second seemed a year. It was dreadful.

i've had a dream that taz got stuck in a bog and started to sink to the point only his nostrils were above the surface and no matter what we did nothing was going to save him and i watched as he was shot so he didnt have to die a horrible death, i woke up crying, taz isnt allowed near deep mud now... i think im just too suspicious. i have also had dreams of him and my dogs being murdered as such and finding bits of their bodies across the field... now i sound like a right weirdo but i panic about it and i will tell people looking in to the yard to move on as i dont like the thought of them eyeing up my horse :(

I have dreams like these alot.
I had one where I shot my dog 4/5 times and he would die so I hacked his head off with a sword :( I woke up and had to call him to me to make sure he was still alive. Oh found me hugging dog and tears streaming down my face.

A fuunny one was where my pony was a fish :) She was swimming about with a normal goldfish body and a huge horse head :D It stuck with me that for ages I called her tilly-fish and everyone looking at me strangely :p

I have really odd dreams, usually not horrible but definitely bizarre although a few years after my grandad passed away I dreamed that he was still alive but very poorly and my dad and nan killed him with a sledge hammer because the Romans from Gladiator were coming. I can remember screaming at them top stop, obviously more real bit felt like it.

I get these, I understand it's because your subconscious brain is worrying about how you would cope if something bad happened, so it kind of sets up a worst case scenario just to see how you would cope, basically it's because you care

Thinking of a plan of action, or a reasonable ending to your dream scenario will help you get back to sleep
