Found out today that the horse my friend had put a deposit down on is no longer for sale. the woman selling said horse has decided she cannot bare to part with said horse. She was due to arrive in a weeks time after gcse exams had finished and as you can imagine he is absolutely gutted!

The seller sent an email is now refusing to answer the phone to anyone which is also very frustrating.

So now we are all on the look out.

So does anyone know of a nice allrounder around 15.2hh suitable for a 16yo as a first horse? Hampshire area can look further afield for right horse. about £3000 in the budget again more for right horse.

Quite a few out there with that budget, though don't know of any personally...only from looking in a similar area. Any particular breed?

Did your friend get the deposit back?

What a nightmare! love horsey shopping - where have you been looking? I am Southampton based, I do not know of anything but i will ask about.

Any breed preference? any major no no's and what experience level is your friend?

I'm sure she is gutted, not a nice thing to do to someone at all.

I actually posted that when someone one here was going to do exactly the same thing to a buyer last week.

Hope she finds something even nicer.

not overly, seller is not answering the phone to anyone still, has just been sending emails saying she will give deposit back ect ect.

they like the look of the one that i posted above that ImmyS found so hopefully they will go and see her. Im trying to tell them that buying that horse obviously wasnt meant to be but H is so upset she was due to arrive next week and has already been getting the stable ready for the horse

Why do so many of these horses have 'wasted in present home' I do find it a really odd thing to say?

Because sometimes an owner may reasonably feel they are wasted.

I don’t go by the entire concept of a horse being ‘wasted’ – at the end of the day, they don’t have the same concepts as us and aren’t standing in their fields whinging about being denied a chance at Badminton.

However, particularly when it’s part of other factors such as a lack of time to get the best out of a horse day-to-day or not ‘clicking’ with a horse, I think it’s a perfectly valid reason.
