Vet came to sedate horse for clipping today and I trotted him up for her just to make sure he was ok. She said he was 1/10th lame with a slight digital pulse but nothing to see in the leg nor nothing came up with hoof testers. Any ideas?

She thought it may be because his soles are soft and he's stood on something.

Did a flexion test and he def. moved off lame.

Just wondered whether anyone had any ideas?!!

She told me to carry on as normal and see what happens.

Too many possibilities to mention!

I'd try 7 - 10 days box rest and bute to see it if sorts itself out. If not I'd want a full lameness work-up.

If your vet has seen the horse and advised that you continue as normal then I'd do just that. But if he's still not right in a week then maybe have another chat with your vet.

It could well be that he's just stepped on something and is a bit footy. I don't know how old he is but I was told by a vet that many older horses would fail flexion tests. Not sure how true that is but I'd just see how he goes for now.
