My horse has a unique way of removing muzzles:rolleyes:

He uses his front feet to stand on the edge and rips the muzzle off or if the muzzle stays on his head he rips the bottom of the muzzle off so he can graze normally.

I've tried all the usual Shires, best friend, green guard types of muzzle and once went through 6 different muzzles in a week.

He's also injured himself pulling muzzles off.

He's on limited turnout but over the last couple of week he's been piling on the pounds, it took me all winter to get him down to his ideal weight and I just feel like I'm fighting a losing battle.

We aren't allowed electric fencing so I cannot stripe graze or make him a piggy paddock.

Moving yards isn't an option either. Nor is working him as he can only do very light work due to injury.

He has a handful of high fibre nuts in a treat ball and 2 year old soaked hay in a trickle net to keep him amused whilst stabled and he is out for 10 hours over night.

He's a chunky 14.3hh Welsh Cob at his fattest when I first had him he was 620kg at his slimest he was 460kg which is about right. He's currently 490kg which isn't too bad but still fat.

Any advice gratefully received :D

An other one here who had to give up on muzzles because of cost ( constantly buying new as they got trashed) and injuries mine also got his friends to help with removal so two got injured at the time.
