I've seen this and similar posts from other owners being posted over social media and I'm shocked.

I've never met the person being accused....and who will find it very hard to justify the obvious neglect!....but followed him on fb and insta and from his posts I would never have suspected him of being capable of the level of neglect that is visible in the photo's and videos which shows that you can never truly know anyone from their social media profile.

A lot of people have asked on the posts why owners didn't visit but it seems he was offering backing, schooling and competition livery and, apart from being well recommended, he would say that he was away competing etc and from what I have seen him post over the last few months if he had one of my horses I would never have suspected what was going on behind the happy videos of horses hacking and other animals around the yard.

It’s often the case that the worst offenders are very good at conning people on social media. I’ve just seen the posts. I’ve never heard of the person accused, so will have a nosey at that.

I knew someone who kept a stallion in a stable for over 6 months. It never set foot outside the door, until one day when it snowed and the owner got it out and chased it round the field with a lunge whip and carrier bag attached so they could take photos. To be fair the photos were amazing 🙄. There were never any photos of her horses just being horses, only ridden photos or trotting/cantering photos. The reality was very different. People reported her for years and it look a horse to be found dead before any action was taken.

I've been trying to find the right words to reply to this. I don't want to leap on the bandwagon to be judgemental as so many on social media have. I did think only the other day that he hadn't been posting much about the horses (or indeed much at all, apart from his new sideline)
I sort of know him in that he's local and we used to share a farrier. I'm disappointed and yes, probably shocked. But reading between the lines and looking at what he's posted on social media in the past..... I'm not surprised.
There are obviously issues there and I'm very sad for both him and the animals in his care, that it has come to this.

@ycbm this is a quote from the FB post. I don’t know if that’s the stables name or not

If you personally have any kind of animal at “Wayne’s World” my suggestion is you go and get it.
Because this is not right. And you cannot condone it.

I have known about this for a couple of weeks now as the owners wanted to remove their horses first.
I think its been made trickier by the fact a lot of the time WG has told people the horse is very tricky and you will not be able to sell it so the owners have almost handed it over and said can you find it a good home. The yard owner has enabled a lot of the issues as thinks he can do no wrong and when you start digging beneath the surface these issues have been around for a long time.

I don't know who this person is, but the animals look to be in awful condition :(

There are two animal charities that I supported for a long time, in the past couple of years it came to light that both were starving many of the animals. Both had 'dead piles' with corpses left in dustbins and hidden in the woods. Both had active social media pages where they regularly posted photos of the animals! Looking back, they only ever took photos of the animal's faces or from clever angles, or only shared photos of animals that had 'just come in' (the worst was yet to come for these poor souls). The one owner was going off on tropical holidays with the donation money whilst the animals starved to death, the other was buying expensive new cars whilst there were animals in serious need of vet care.

Both came across as charismatic people and had what I would describe as 'cult' followings. I have never been one to blindly and cultishly 'follow' anyone, but I have supported many animal charities over the years, and if a charity has a big following and lots of people singing their praises, then there is nothing to suggest that they are animal neglecters and abusers until they are under investigation and on the news!

Point being, unless you know someone in person and have seen their premises and the condition of their animals (whether they are an animal charity, livery yard, trainer etc) - sadly I would not make any assumptions anymore based on a social media page. I would certainly never send an animal to someone if I had not seen the premises for myself, and spent enough time with the person to know their character.

Sounds like a small handful of people were brave enough to report this man in the past, and were silenced by his 'cult'. You wonder how many of those people had actually met him in real life or seen the condition of the animals in his care. Cult followings terrify me.

Looks like he disabled his Facebook page, no surprise, I'm sure he's getting a lot of abuse.

Sadly it does look like he deserves to lose his business.

I'm finding it really sickening that some of his acolytes are claiming it's all to do with mental health and that someone should go and check on HIM to make sure he is OK.

Same... They visited his yard and all looked okay, so it can't be true?! These people also ask why people have not reported it/spoken up sooner?! So many reasons why, but also looks people have reported him and got nowhere. What a mess.

He won't be the first, nor the last competition rider to do such truly barbaric things. I bought my horse of a lifetime because i felt sorry for him. He was a 5 figure horse, who had competed all over the world. He came back to the UK and was sent to "friends" of the owners to be competed. Due to the fact he is very territorial in his stable they kept him cross tied for 23 hrs a day and he only came out to be ridden. The state he was in when i got him was heartbreaking and yet these people had the audacity to come to me at a show and accuse me of all sorts. Still now people mention them and say how great they are and what a talent the rider is. The mum was locked up for saying one child was dying and taking money that had been raised to help, using it to take the other child to shows. But they are good people. I just hope the mental health card is not used to justify what this vile human has done to those poor animals. Anyone trying to defend him needs to take a good look at themselves, we are the horses voice.

Sent 2 of mine to a pro event rider while I was on holiday for 2 weeks. One was older with some issues and could have done with a bit of extra care not dumped in a tiny paddock with no food. If I'd been away for 3 weeks I don't know if he would have survived. The vet bill was over £1000 and getting him back eating again took a lot of effort. I wasn't aware the RSPCA had visited before, but anyway they hadn't found anything to worry them. I haven't been on holiday for 10 years now, except horse camps where they remain in my care!! This person had mental health issues as well, doesn't stop them going out competing every week but does mean that tossing a bit of food for a starving horse is beyond their capacity  .

I am the same, i haven't been on holiday for years. I am so OCD about the care of my boys that i would rather sacrifice the holiday. I waned to send my young boy away but refused as he is so sensitive and i knew how he would be treated. I just loathe those that use the mental health card.

The person who let a 2 year of die of starvation in a field near me was Chairman of a big and very active riding club, and other well known horse people in the area went to his trial to act as character witnesses saying what a good horseman he was. 😟
The dodgy Scottish dealer who caught me was Vice Chairman of the BHS and a Welfare Officer for them!!! They hide in plain sight!

This is pretty local to me and I know lots of people who have sent horses to him and he's done clinics for some neighbouring RCs etc.

He's never sat right with me and I've always taken a very wide berth but that's because I hate anyone who encourages that sort of sycophant following.
I never thought he would be capable of this sort of cruelty and neglect though.

Makes it very hard to trust people to send your beloved horses to!
