Harley was about 35 when i lost him- prob older but i used to knock a year off every so often! He was still going strong in many ways, i actually let him start jumping again the week he died ( we were walking around a field and he kept trying to tow me into jumps!) I just thought what the hell and let him go, we sped round and round all totally off his own back and he was really alert and happy after
I had one who lived to 38 ,and two years ago I rescued a neglect case who is now 35 and fully recovered .Still a handsome old gent and sound he will shortly belong to one of my six year old students as Ian's first horse . Jake is a retired roping horse of all things ,an able school master and still possesed of a sense of humour to balance his wisdom.
My 15.1 conni x tb is now 33, my friend bought her as a 2/12 year old. i had a section a who was 35 when she passed & a friend had a cob who she insited was 40+, never knew for sure though.
I have 2 here in their early forties. One thinks he is still 3! They need lots of tlc, but they are still "with it". I love em to bits and am dreading them going..............
Crikey - cannot beleive the ages on here - must be some well-loved and looked after horses/ponies to make it to such a ripe age and still have quality of life
