I have noticed lately that my gelding always has his "fifth leg" dangling. I have done the dreaded sheath clean and bean search and all seems ok. No in season mares around. Any ideas ?

Mine is any excuse, he hangs it out, he is like a pubescent boy ;-) just likes showing it off to everyone. Thank goodness its only at home though when secure in his surroundings.

Hahaha mine too, always after being ridden, he likes to let it all hang out! I went to put his rug on in the field earlier, and he got it out again then too. No shame :D

My Highland stallion, who stands at public stud, did this at a show. My young helper looked at me with a mischievous grin and remarked, "He's advertising!".

But i think they do it to cool down.

My horse is the opposite - he's very shy, he gets it out to wee but the second he's finished it' s away again. As a result its covered in flakes of dried wee. He's very sensitive about it being cleaned too - usually try to give it a clean if he's been sedated for his teeth and I always aim the water hose in that area when hosing him down but should I do more? Other horses at my yard are more like your lot and often give 'it' some air and they look better for it? He's never shown signs of struggling to pee and I've always just assumed its the way he is (also thought he was like that from possibly being cut a bit late).

Yup mine too, straight after being ridden as I'm dismounting it's on it's way out. He was a stallion and covered mares right up to being 5, he's only been cut 18 months so uses any situation to get it out in the hope that someone wants to admire his bits...
