Is it just me, or does anyone else get a bit fed up with the same old same old being shown? fair enough we all manage to get in front of the tele at different times of the day, so I am not saying repeats should be ruled out all together..... but here we are two months on and we are still seeing the Your Horse Live stuff!!!

I would actually like to see some grass roots stuff and not the top riders all the time - how would you feel if you arrived at a venue say for affiliated dressage and H&C were there recording? would you mind?

Have added a poll to this too!

I'd like ti to be on freeview so I could at least watch it without relying on my mum to record it and then wait ages for her to copy it to dvd

couldn't comment of repeats etc

I've only had H&C for a few days. so repeats are good at the moment!

I am still thrilled with the amont of SJ (Hartpury & Olympia).

However more is always better, and grass roots is amusing due to some interesting riding.

Wouldn't mind being filmed, but would like to be able to send footage in to you've been framed if I could get £250 from falling off!!

as long as i didnt fall off and my horse was behaving i wouldnt mind being recorded lol

i do think they should put some more stuff on it though. there tends to be more country stuff than horse programs which can be intresting but i`d rather see more horse programs

Now there's a thought, we could all make money out of our horses antics.... I really would like to see more grass routes stuff, there are enough events on every week to cover all disciplines at "our" levels (after all, we are not all pro's) and I really wouldn't mind turning up at an event to find them there! Plus it would also add to the mix of discussions on here as we all share our experiences and people can actually see what we are up to with our horses!

ide like therre to be more eventing on there, and less farming stuff, and programmes about cheese!

agree with that! today for an hour they have the British cheese awards

I don't mind repeats as very rarely do I have time to sit & watch it when its on. I went to tape the Carl Hester demo the other night & missed it, thought never mind, it will be on again & have scrolled through at least a week but can't find any more so that must have been the last of his repeats!!

I really enjoyed all the Lucinda Green clinics, & the Team Fredericks stuff and would gladly watch them over again. I'm not against watching the top riders as I treat it as a training session for me.

Everytime I get chance to put 'my' programs on rather than watch CBEEBIES you can guarantee there will be a farming program on or a Monty Roberts program that I have already seen. To be honest the woman that does the teleshopping drives me mad! Her voice is really boring and they repeat a lot of the stuff that is being reviewed. But I suppose something horsey on telly is better than nothing.

don't have acces to the h+Ctv but i do try to watch it on the website

i don't know when it was last updated but it definately needs new content.

agree with more eventing and grass roots events.

would be happy to see some letrec gaming programmes and horse cross etc

I watch H&CTV and love it. We've got Sky + so I record just about everything so the repeats can be a bit annoying but on the plus side if I forget to record something I can usually find it somewhere later to record the repeat (sounds confusing but makes sense!)

I love the amount of SJ on there and saw most of Olympia which was great. Also managed to record the BD Nationals (think it was that) which i've saved too.

Watched a demo or two but would like to see more of them. What was the Carl Hester one that was on, I missed that

Hywel Morgan the fishing bloke is from the village up from here (5 miles away!) which is funny, it's odd having someone local on TV!)

Would like to see more locations/venues covered tho.

They could do loads more with it. Why don't they put more films on? Or make some new programs like Groom Idol (just made that up!) or some Only Fools on Horses but with normal people rather than Celebs. I didn't mind watching the repeats at first, but now it is really boring and the Teleshopping really annoys me, a) I've seen it before and b) it is mostly crap!

They should really pull their finger out IMO

Definitely fewer programs about cheese and fishing and a few more about horses (that aren't the flaming Parellis and Monty Roberts). The Emile Faurie and Carl Hester clinics were v. good, as are the Lucinda Green things they do.

I am actually quite surprised they dont do more coverage of grass roots events, you'd think it would be cheaper to get the TV rights for small local things than for events like YHL and Olympia.

Their show coverage isn't very good, in my opinion; too much emphasis on show-jumping and less on showing. I'd like to see more of the pure agricultural stuff as well. I was pleased they brought back One Man & His Dog, though, or whatever the new PC name for it is.

Come Bye!

Though please no showing, its bad enough being bored taking part, let alone watching it on tv

I thought the PUK show coverage was ok, not too much time on each class and you get to see the crazy people in the background!!

Hi

I would say definanately like to see more local stuff. My daughter recently qualified for the Oliver Townend Championship the finals which were held up North were supposed to have been filmed by Horse and Country TV who backed out at the last moment and this was a huge dissapointment to so many riders who had qualified.

It was such a shame .......

Yes, so much parelli always on! What about a lot of the horsey films? Could they run a repeat of the bbc's OFOH? things like that?

I agree they could do a lot more with it, I think Minkymoo had some good ideas - maybe you should go and work for them!

As for the bias towards showjumping, I don't mind as enjoy watching it and I can see why (it's much cheaper and easier to stick a couple of cameras on one ring than to film all the way round a XC course for example) but it would be nice to have some more eventing on there. I think showing classes would be a bit dull on telly though. As for grass roots I'm not sure... Maybe if it was the trailblazers championships or BSJA amateur finals, PAVO/Young Event Horse qualifiers and finals for example that would be good, but I'm not sure I'd want to watch any old dressage/sj/pre-novice class at the local venue down the road, I think it'd get a bit boring?!

I tell you what I DO want - And that's to get rid of that woman who presents all the Harry Hall merchandise for sale. She drives me NUTS.

I would like to see some more interviews/lessons/info on top level riders, but I agree it might be good to follow some amateurs - perhaps in the form of progress reports each month or something.

What about point to pointing? yes? no?

Does anyone watch CountryTV (www.countrychannel.tv) - some horsey stuff, some country stuff.....

Would you be prepared to pay an extra £1 on your entry fee at a local show to have it filmed for the TV channels to broadcast it and/or for you to have a copy of your class/round/whatever??

Filming is expensive and production etc for TV is v expensive - so this cost has be met either thru subscriptions or sponsorship......

Do people watch these channel on the web or are most people only watching on Sky?

Interesting stuff.....

I think watching pro's is beneficial to my riding, I can turn up at a grass roots show any day of the week and see people riding dreadfully!! I just don't think thats what the majority would want to see- although I guess it would be nice to be on the telly!!

I think we are supporting the channel. We all watch it, however one can lose interest very quickly if the same old crap is repeated!

It would be great to follow some riders as they try to achieve their yearly goals for example (I think a horsey mag does this) interviews, classes, vets, the potential is huge and I feel it is just a wasted resource!

And thank you donadea, maybe I should approach them - I could do with a new job!!!

Well I emailed them about this and have also told them about this topic so that they can gauge what the audience feels/thinks.....

I think the explanation given is fair enough really.....

Here's what they said:-

Thank you for taking the time to do the survey and getting back to us
with it.
You are right on your observations that we do repeat programmes, this is
mainly down to the fact that we are a new channel, and so budgets are
very tight. This is also the reason that our coverage on the more grass
roots riders is so sparse, unfortunately it all comes down to money.
At the moment we have to rely on sponsorship to fund the filming of
events, and of course this means covering more of the bigger
competitions, although we readily recognise the importance of every
level of riding unfortunately our budget cannot.
However we are seeking more and more funding and hope to rectify the
numbers of repeats and the diversity of our coverage. We want Horse and
Country to fairly represent it's viewers and truly become your channel,
and we continue to need you support to do this.

So hopefully sponsorship will improve and things will change!!
