My OH has spent most of Christmas on the Garage Roof!
He loves tinkering and he bought a cheap satellite receiver and Dish to get the Free to Air Channels. He is never happier than when he can run cables and drill holes etc.

As I silently guessed we now have even more channels to watch 'rubbish' on but today I fell over Horse And Country TV. I watched a fascinating program on Jump Cross. So where do I find the TV schedule as I looked online and it appeared to have nothing to show me a timetable.
Whats the easiest way to identify decent channels and timetables .

It often has SJing on in the evening (though frequently repeats of the Quainton Stud Young Horse Finals) and at certain times of the year it does repeats of British Open/Olympia. Also had the express eventing highlights on last week and have seen coverage of smaller eventing competitions (Intermediate/Advanced level I think). There are also masterclasses on sometimes (think I always see them on in the eves) with the Fredricks, Ferdi Elliberg and Monty Roberts. Personally, I find it a welcome relief from other channels! Unfortunately I can only get it when I'm at home during the holidays as for some reason here in London I can't get the signal for the channel on my sky box

They have been showing one of the BEF Futurity events from Solihull over the past few days and it has been really interesting. They do tend to repeat things over and over though, but good if you have missed something. I love the masterclasses too. I hope they have been out filming more new programmes though over the summer as the old ones are getting a bit dull

Great idea but needs work, I thought it would be great I'd have something to watch instead of the usual rubbish but its just repeats. Hopefully they have been out in the summer filming as I'm getting a bit bored of watching the same things(its no different from normal telly).
But to be fair the programmes i have watched have been good, I enjoyed the Team fredricks series, monty and I did like the one they did with the Berkeley family.

artyannie can you ask the other half whether he has 'Freesat' or whether this is running off a sky free to air card?

I have the sky free package, which is good as get more channels including H&C. However I have to swap back for channels like Dave and virgin as Sky want you to pay for them even though they are on freeview.

Anyway if it is freesat I would like to know as my father wants to buy a humax PVR on freesat. This allows to you record and wordsearch like sky+ without having to pay for a subscription.

Now the Berkeley family stuff would interest me loads as I was born and brought up literally up the street from the Castle and used to go to the Castle Meadows to catch frogs with Andrew Skuse who lived next door to us.

Ah ha - Astra is the freesat satelite! There are some others, I think one is called "Hotbird1", guessing guys named these. Anyway you can pick up Eurosport from one (in german) which will also allow more SJ viewing!!

Here is info on the Astra / Freesat

I wasn't sure if H&C had paid to be on it yet, as it would have cost them £1m (versus freeview which would have cost £10m+). Clearly they have!
