No every year they do this sneeky price increase when its the Show Specials but they stay this price for the rest of the year.

Indeed Rambo...SHOCKING

Very expensive for a weekly publication, and although once more shows are on it gets interesting over the xmas period HH was wafer thin with hardly any info whatsoever.

Oh how annoying

I remember about 3 years ago when it would cost around £1.95 and it keeps going up

I'm lucky to have a sister and we take it in turns paying every week

Didn't it go up from £2 to £2.10 last time they had the show schedules... and then it didn't go down again?
Need to ask though - is it the first show one this week?

Still worth every penny though - it is the only magazine I would read nearly cover to cover - and compared to lots of glossy womens mags with virtually all photos and not much to read, last a lot longer. Even the ads are interesting....

Mines been late the last 3 weeks running, hasn't arrived in the shop until Friday. I have even gone 2 villages over but they not had it either.

Oh, just a little sad. I remember paying 45p for the h&h many moons ago and it all used to be in black and white.

Does anyone actually use the Show Directory
crazy.gif

I looked at it last night and thought it was just such a jumble of information that i couldn't be bothered with it

I know when all the local show centres have their shows on because i look at their individual websites, and also our BSJA area website which has a consolidated list off the BSJA shows in our area. For the bigger country type shows, i generally know when they are and which ones i want to go to anyway

Certainly not as useful as it used to be but given that the Show area part of the BSJA website isn't working (message says it's not compatible with their new computer [which was installed late last year!]) it may be some help as ads have contact details etc

I'm on subscription, and I seem to remember getting a letter every other month last year telling me the price had increased 'due to the wonderful content I was enjoying'!!

Would rather they just state that they wanted to make more money then tell me what I ought to think!

We used to use the show directory before we went to only affiliated shows. These shows are all listed on each societies website so we don't use the H&H one at all now. however, it is useful for people who are doing local stuff rather than affiliated/qualifier shows.

Very rarely buy it anymore. OH pointed out that the article before Zara won the BBC Sports Personality award went on about how it was 25years since an equestrian had won the award and that the last person to win the award was HRH Princess Anne (aka mummy to Zara). In actual fact it was 35 years since HRH had won it - 25 years was splashed all over the cover and the article. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this one as only quoting OH. Then there was the disastrous towing article and since there have been numerous silly mistakes which is not expected of a quality publication that continues to increase its price.

Yes indeed SV there have been a number of silly mistakes.
I noticed a fair few especially in the hunting pages. Horses and riders from the eventing world and its quite clearly not them or that horse - i guess unless you are a complete eventing anorak like me you may not notice, but IMO its pretty obvious.

Shame really!

Did have to smile this weeks interview with dressage rider Isabell Werth, she was riding without a hat it stated underneath *HH recommends riders to wear kitemarked hats* not the fashionable sweatband Isabell was wearing then lol
