Hope someone may have some ideas on this:
Checked mare this evening (at grass) and noticed that both hind legs - hock to fetlock are filled.
She doesn't seem overly sore maybe a little stiff.

Anyone any idea as to what might be causing this - I don't want to jump the gun but i haven't seen this before in a horse at grass.

I've heard of this before as well...is it the protein in the grass? What I tend to do in these situations is phone the vet and ask their advice, they've probably seen it a million times before if it is common.

I had a herd of 5 mares do this last year when I moved them to a new field. Absolutely no other problems apart from the filled legs. All went down within a few days so just put it down to the difference in the grass.
Glad to hear yours is all resolved.
